Marinestützpunkt
A naval base or naval base is a military property (military base) or a port in which a navy or parts thereof are resident.
EditCodeCode
Marine bases are special ports, which serve as bases and anchorages for warships. In contrast to commercial ports, they are militarily sealed areas and do not have places for the exchange of goods such as container terminals or large warehouses. On the other hand, they mostly have barrack buildings, workshops, training facilities and docks. Many maritime support points are also secured by special defense facilities.
The maritime support points are responsible for the organization of the daily operation. For operations, tugs and oil tankers are provided. Edit HistoryQual
The Athenians built the island of Chios 412 v. To a trading and naval base. Other peoples or tribes settled on the Mediterranean were, at times, a naval force on parts of the Mediterranean. The Roman navy had special naval bases in Ravenna, Naples and Aquileia or Corsica in ancient times.
As the Roman Empire grew, it no longer regarded Punic as a trading partner, but rather as a competing sea power. There were three Punic wars (264 to 146 BC) around the sea rule in the western Mediterranean; they ended with the destruction of Carthage.
In the Middle Ages, the Republic of Venice was the largest naval base with 300 war ships.
With the development of the fast sailing ships and the discovery of America in 1492, most of the great lakes began with the construction of war marines. Edit source text Single-level Edit source text
