The original project saw a railway connection from Görlitz and Kohlfurt to Glatz, which was designed as part of a new continuous railway connection between Berlin and Vienna. Due to the political conflict of interest between Prussia and Austria, which culminated in the German War in 1866, this project was only to be implemented in an approach.
