Carlos López y Valles




Carlos López y Valles, known as Chaflán, (4 November 1887 in Victoria de Durango, February 13, 1942 in Tapachula) was a Mexican actor.

López began his career as an actor at the theater. He had his breakthrough as a cinematographer in the film El águila y el nopal (1929) alongside Joaquín Pardavé, Roberto Soto and Ramón Arbengol. With roles in El compadre Mendoza (1934), Vámonos con Pancho Villa (1935), La zandunga (1936), Los millones del Chaflán (1938) and ¡Ay Jalisco no te rajes! he became the first major comedian of Mexican film and one of the first major actors of the Mexican sound film. In all, he appeared in more than thirty Kinofilmen. When his last film came to the cinema in 1945, La última aventura de Chaflán.
