WOMEX 15

WOrld Music EXpo (WOMEX) is the world's largest music fair for world, roots, ethnic, traditional and local music and folk. The international event has been taking place annually since 1994 (up to 1996) in different major European cities. Approximately 550 exhibitors from over 50 countries, 2200 trade visitors and 300 journalists come every year. In addition to the trade fair, there are conferences, film screenings and a music festival with over 60 performances on 7 stages followed by club nights with DJs. Within the framework of the event, three different awards are presented each year: the WOMEX Artist Award, the WOMEX Professional Excellence Award and the WOMEX Label Award. In order to enable the communication and network work of the world music community (also independent of the trade fair) throughout the year, an online platform was also developed - the virtualWOMEX.
