Lyudmila Nikolaevna Petrov




Lyudmila Nikolaevna Petrovna (Russian Людмила Николаевна Петрова, Translated by Lyudmila Petrova, 7 October 1968) is a Russian long-distance runner specializing in the marathon.

In 1998 she set a Russian record in the 15 km road with 48:31, which still stands. In the same year, she finished fourth in the New York City Marathon, and she won him in 2000.

At the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton, she finished sixth in the 10,000-meter race, the following year she was third at the London Marathon in 2:22:33.

In 2003 she became Fifth in London and Fourth in New York City. In the marathon of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, she became eighth after having been second in the London Marathon this year.

After a fifth place in London and a sixth in New York City in 2005, she set a Russian record in 2:21:29 in London. Galina Bogomolova broke it later in the year at the Chicago Marathon, where Petrowa became eighth.

In 2008 Petrowa finished fifth at the London Marathon in 2:26:45. On November 2, 2008, at the age of 40, she took second place behind the British Paula Radcliffe at the New York City Marathon and before the American Kara Goucher. With a run-time of 2:25:43, she was more than a minute ahead of the women's World Cup of 40, which had previously been set by Priscilla Welch in 1987.
