Theobule (Greek Θεοβούλη) is a figure of Greek mythology. According to Hyginus, she is consort of Lycos and mother of the Boiotic generals Prothoënor and Arkesilaos. While Prothoënor fell in battle with Polydamas during the Trojan War, Arkesilaos was killed by Hector.

The rest of the tradition is known as the father of the brother pair Areïlykos or Archilykos.

After Adolf Bastian, Arkesilaos was the son of Theobule and Lycos, while Prothoënor was begotten by Theobule and Areïlykos.

Hyginus also mentions a second theobule, which together with Mercury (Hermes) testified the Myrtilos. Edit the source text Edit source text
