Nikolaos Siranidis

Nikolaos Siranidis (Greek Νίκος Συρανίδης; * February 26, 1976 in Athens) is a Greek art and towering prince. He was a participant in the Olympic Summer Games 1996, 2000 and 2004.

In the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he already failed in the qualifying and finished in 26th place. As a participant of the summer games 2000 in Sydney, he finished in 36th place.

In 2004 the favored participants from China, Russia and the USA made serious mistakes during the competition in synchronizing the 3-meter board. This led to a bizarre turn of the events in the final, fifth round. So Nikolaos Siranidis could win the gold medal together with his partner Thomas Bimis.

It was Greece's first gold medal in the towering league and the first medal for the hosts of the 2004 Summer Olympics. That made the pair of jumpers very well-known athletes in Greece. Weblinks Edit sourcetext Olympiasieger in the art jumping synchronous
