Common Information Model

The Common Information Model (CIM) is a standard for the management of IT systems developed and adopted by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF). Through it it should above all distributed applications be possible to provide a uniform provider and platform independent management interface. It deals with network, system and application management. CIM provides a data model in managed object format (MOF) to describe the management information and functions in a software system. It is not bound to any implementation. The first version of the CIM scheme appeared on 9 April 1997. The current "stable" version of the CIM scheme v2.23.0 was published on 22 October 2009.
