IBM ThinkPad ThinkLight

White LED on an IBM ThinkPad A21p laptop.

ThinkLight is a light from a keyboard produced by IBM, and is present in the ThinkPad family of laptops. A white or yellow LED (depending on the model) is located at the edge of the screen, illuminating the keyboard for use in low light locations. It is activated by the key combination Fn-Pg (the buttons located in the lower left and upper right corner). The computer screen displays a symbol to indicate whether it is on or off. The ThinkLight can be turned on while the monitor is on or off, but not when the notebook is turned off.

Some ThinkPads, such as the Z and R series (with exceptions, such as the R61 model) show an amber (yellow) color on the LED because it is cheaper, while other models, such as the T series, use an LED See yellow selective to discuss the economic benefits of yellow LEDs.
