Clay Cook


Clay Cook (born 1978) is a songwriter, record producer and musician who has co-written several songs with Grammy Award winner John Mayer, such as "No Such Thing", "Comfortable" and "Neon". The joint compositions of Cook and Mayer are mainly from the start of the latter's career. Their collaborations only appear in the first two albums of Mayer, Inside Wants Out and Room for Squares. Cook and Mayer formed the band Lo-Fi Masters before Mayer grabs Inside Wants Out. Cook currently belongs to the Zac Brown Band and previously to the Marshall Tucker Band. Biography

Clay Cook studied at South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia in 1996, and then began lecturing at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. While there, Cook met musician and songwriter John Mayer and both formed the band LoFi Masters.

After staying in Berklee, Cook persuaded his colleague, John Mayer, to move the duo to Atlanta, Georgia, where he came from. They began to perform a lot on the Atlanta scene, including the Eddie's Attic concert hall. About his joined, Cook said: "Even then, my role was more as a producer and John the composer. I helped polish the songs.For example, he composed six verses for a song and I helped him to reduce them to three. "Due to musical and creative differences, they decided to separate. Cook has since played with Sugarland, Shawn Mullins, Marshall Tucker Band and Zac Brown Band, which he still belongs to.
