Treaty of Basel (April 5, 1795)

The Treaty of Basel between the First French Republic and the Kingdom of Prussia on 6 April 1795, by which the latter withdrew from the anti-revolutionary coalition created by Leopold II of Austria and ceded its Rhine territories west of Rhine, that is to say, the Duchy of Gueldres and part of the Duchy of Clevis.

France was represented by François Barthélemy, and Prussia by Karl August von Hardenberg.

Following the withdrawal of Prussia from the First Coalition, Spain signed the peace separately with France in the Second Treaty of Basle.
