Tactical Assault Group

The Tactical Assault Group (TAG) are Australia's counterterrorism units. The two groups, East and West, are structured to conduct domestic counter-terrorism operations focusing on the settlement of the incident and the recovery of the hostages.

They have a short capacity for conducting military operations beyond the reach of the tactical teams of the State and the Federal Police. These goals are achieved through a variety of highly specialized skills and abilities and by supporting units of the Australian Armed Forces.
