Louis Henry Charbonneau Jr. (born January 24, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, † May 11, 2017) was an American author who wrote science fiction, fiction, Western romances and radio plays.

Louis Charbonneau served in the Second World War in the US Air Force in the UK. After the war he studied at the University of Detroit and earned the academic degree of a Master of Arts in 1950. Afterwards he was a lecturer for English literature for several years. In 1952 he moved to Los Angeles. He worked as a journalist at the Los Angeles Times and also worked for an advertising agency. Then he began to write for radio and film.
He published his numerous Western novels under the pseudonym "Carter Travis Young".
