Living Museum of Bujumbura

The Living Museum of Bujumbura is a public zoo and museum in Bujumbura (Burundi) founded in 1977. It is dedicated to the flora, fauna and arts of Burundi. It occupies about 3 hectares in the open air and is accessed by 10 de Octubre street. In December 2016 the zoo's collection included six crocodiles, a monkey, a leopard, two chimpanzees, three numídidos, a testudínid, an antelope, and several snakes and fish. Several artisans have workshops in the park where they show their work. You can also see many different types of trees and the reconstruction of a traditional house in Burundi. The number of visitors to the museum fell sharply after the political crisis in Burundi in 2015.
