Feria de la Ascensión


The Feria de la Ascensión (Asturian Fair of the Ascension) is a festival celebrated in the Asturian town of Oviedo.

The beginnings of the party go back to the sixteenth century beginning as a cattle show.

The feast is celebrated some forty days after the celebration of Holy Week, on the occasion of Ascension Day. It is a tribute to the countryside and its people, making a sample of livestock, astur market, exhibitions of folk crafts, samples of folklore, etc.

The festival has its own gastronomic menu made up of menestra of time, meat governed Oviedo style and a cheesecake with cherries.

The celebration was declared a Regional Tourist Interest. Beef ruled, in the Gastronomic Society El Rinconín, Oviedo. Vegetable Menestra for the Fair of the ascent in Oviedo.
