Club of long people

The club of long people Germany eV (KLM) is a club, which understands itself as a lobby for people with an above average body length.

Edit HistoryQual

He was founded on April 17, 1953 in Munich by four men, first as a club of long men, then after the first accession of a female member in August of that year renamed club of long Munich, in October 1953 after communications and accessions from other cities renamed to the final name. Prerequisite for joining is a body size for women from 1.80 m and for men from 1.90 m. In the founding period one of the main objectives was to get a tax relief for people of the size mentioned. However, this attempt was unsuccessful.

The procurement of clothing from serial production was and is another important task of the association. Through press work the manufacturers were made aware of the special needs. The KLM then developed into a society of friends, according to its own data, about 3,500 members (as of 2005), which is represented in 23 major districts in all major German cities. These districts offer an event program tailored to the members, with regular regional, interregional and international meetings. Besides Germany, there are clubs in Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Finland, UK, Norway, Switzerland and Spain (Barcelona) and the USA (Chicago). Longinus Club in Ă–sterreich Edit this page

Through an article in an illustrated magazine, one of the founding members of the Longinus Club became aware of the association "Club of Long People" in Germany. On February 23, 1956, the "Neue Kurier" published a detailed article about great people with the aim of founding their own club in Vienna, and the founding meeting for the LONGINUS-CLUB Vienna in Café Schottenring on 26 April 1956. Since then, there have been national and international events with up to 850 participants (1992 European Council). Weblinks Edit sourcetext Single-level Edit source text
