Albaro is an elegant residential district in the Italian port of Genoa. The territory of the district is the commune of San Francesco d'Albaro affiliated to Genoa in 1873.
Until the 18th century, Albaro was the classic holiday destination of the wealthy inhabitants of Genoa who spent the summer here. With the integration into the Ligurian capital, the district experienced profound structural changes that made it one of the most prestigious residential areas in the Fascist capital.
Albaro is part of the Municipio VIII Medio Levante. The neighborhoods are Albaro, Lido, San Giuliano and Puggia, which together have a population of 30,163.
