The song is known for its distinctive guitar solo with Spanish scales, something very unusual for that time. Jeff Beck used the slide technique to get that sound.

"Evil Hearted You" was versioned by Pixies, who completely reworked the lyrics in Spanish. This version appears as B-side of the single "Planet of Sound" of 1991 and is also available in the compilation Complete 'B' Sides.
