João Batista Portocarrero Costa (born June 7, 1904 in Vitória de Santo Antão, Pernambuco, Brazil, January 6, 1959) was a Brazilian Roman Catholic clergyman and coadjutor bishop of Olinda e Recif. Pope Pius XII. appointed him Bishop of Mossoró on July 31, 1943. The Archbishop of Olinda e Recife, Miguel de Lima Valverde, gave him the bishop's ordination on the 7th November of that year; Co-conspirators were Adalberto Accioli Sobral, Bishop of Pesqueira, and Mário de Miranda Vilas-Boas, Bishop of Garanhuns.

On 3 July 1953, the Pope appointed him the coadjutor bishop of Olinda e Recife and the titular archbishop of Selge. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
