Gunpowder
1.- Ammunition yard.
The gunpowder shed is placed under the platform of the Santa Barbara and extends from the bow side of the main winch to the absolute stern of the ship.
The floor of this store rests on the right and left over the pikes, or rather on the varengas of the bottom. The height at which this deck must be placed is fixed to the third of the height between the keel and the upper surface of the tops of the first deck. The number of baths is relative to the length of the room. Such toilets usually have their width and thickness provided to their length. They should be of light wood, and their ends secured on the ship's members, they are given the sixth of their length reduced to inches. The baos that have greater extension are supported in their center by small props that are fitted by the low face of the baos by means of their respective wicks, and they come to stop on the face high of the crushed.
The windows of the gunpowder deck are covered with pine planks, careful to line the inside of the storehouse with very thin boards and nailed with small copper nails without head: toward the aft part of this store they place several drawers to hold the cartridges. This cellar is separated from the rest of the cellar by a double inner and outer bulkhead formed on struts. In order to avoid all fire accidents, the gap between these two bulkheads is filled with plaster and brick. The magazine and the crates for cartridges are lined with canvas to receive powder that could spill; and to clean with more security the store when the ship disembarks its gunpowder.
