Franz-Josef (also Joseph) Emperor was born as the son of a watchmaker. His family had been active in watchmaking since the end of the 18th century. After technical and commercial training, he joined the Villinger Uhrenfabrik, the later J. Kaisersuhren Villingen, which was founded in 1852 as "Gebrüder Meier", and became a managing partner. In 1923 he expanded the production program to include radio headphones and loudspeakers.
The company belonged to the largest watchmakers in Germany and was involved in the Badische Uhrenfabrik (BADUF) among others. In addition to the Supervisory Board, J. Kaiser was a regional adviser to Deutsche Bank for Baden and the employers' association. He was voluntarily involved in equestrian sports and the promotion of horse breeding. In August 1953, he was awarded the merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his services to equestrian sports as in the German watch industry. The company he was managing existed until 1972.
