It is located in the Penwith deanate, Cornish Archdiocese and Diocese of Truro. A church dedicated to Santa Senara has been maintained on the present site with views of the sea, at least from the 6th century AD, but the present building dates back to the 13th and 15th centuries. There is an octagonal tower to the west and the abysmal source may be from the 13th century. It was supposedly founded by St. Senara on his return from Ireland with his son, who was then a bishop, when the town of Zennor was founded.
