Atik is the name of the star ο Persei (ο Per / 38 Persei / HD 23180) in the constellation Perseus. Its name comes from the Arabic Al-'Atiq, whose meaning is "the shoulder of the Pleiades". Of apparent magnitude +3.83, it is at an uncertain distance of 1475 light years from the Solar System. Atik is a spectroscopic binary star formed by a bluish white spectral type B1III of 22,000 K effective temperature, and another spectral type star B3V with a temperature of 18,600 K. The first is about ten times more luminous than the second. Both stars revolve around the center of common mass every 4.42 days and are so close that the tidal force distorts its shape, so they have an ellipsoidal rather than a spherical shape.

Atik also stands out as an X-ray source, suggesting the existence of gases with two different temperatures. A hot gas at 3 million Kelvin is probably produced when the stellar winds of both stars collide. Another gas, with an even higher temperature of 16 million K, may come from some kind of hot crown.
