Abella River

The river by the municipality of Abella de la Conca.

The Abella River is a river, a tributary of the Conques River. It crosses the municipalities of Gavet de la Conca, Abella de la Conca and Isona and Conca Dellá. It is in the province of Lleida. The river is born in a mountainous place called La Tora, under the Sierra de Carreu: in Abella de la Conca. Follow direction O, crossing this place, and turn direction S to the height of Casa Fontanel, crossing La Foral. It arrives to the capital of the municipality where it is, and follows the direction of SO through several fields of crops, to which it arrives at the site of Cap de Vincent, where its first important tributary flows, the ravine of Fangera, that arrives to the river by the E. When it empties into the river, it goes towards the O, passing in front of the House Benata, and arriving already to the municipality of Isona i Conca Della; in other words, in the ancient municipality of Sant Roma de Abella. In this part of the section of the river, summer streams begin to emerge; as for example, the ravine of Enmedio. Continue towards the O, at the height of the village of Basturs. The river twists towards the SW, at the height of the mill of Basturs and goes back towards the O by the place of Segatasos, near the town of Figuerola de Orcau. It again twists towards the S, at the height of Capblons, until it ends at the Conques River; to the E of the town of Fonsagrada, in Gavet of the Conca. It has a length of 24 km.
