Wanda Panfil


Wanda Panfil (after marriage Wanda Panfil-Gonzales, * 26 January 1959 in Opoczno) is a Polish long-distance runner.

In 1990 she won the London Marathon and the New York City Marathon. In 1991, she won the Boston Marathon in her personal best time of 2:24:18 and won the marathon at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Panfil won twelve Polish championship titles in the disciplines of 3000 m, 5000 m, 20 km of road, marathon and cross-country racing, and set nine national records on the track distance distances 3000 m, 5000 m and 10,000 m

In 1990 and 1991, she was voted "Sportswoman of the Year" in Poland. In addition, she won the award Złote Kolce ("Golden Spines") in 1990 and 1991.
