United Daughters of the Confederacy

United Daughters of Confederacy They are a fraternal organization, formed by women descendants of confederate soldiers, that was created in the year 1894, by Caroline Meriwether Goodlett (1833-1914) and Anna Davenport Raines (1853-1915), former nurses of the Southern Army, with a similar purpose to the Sons of Confederate Veterans Association but intended for women, mainly orphans and confederate war widows. It has been one of the organizations responsible for keeping the flame on the cultural level.
