Robert Giraud


Robert Giraud. (Limoges (Haute-Vienne), 1921 - Paris, 1997). Journalist and French bookseller.

Giraud was an active member of the French resistance during the occupation of the country by Nazi Germany in World War II. He was detained by the Vichy regime and sentenced to death, although his comrades freed him before the execution.

After the war he wrote in countless media such as France Soir and Paris Presse. He was an intimate friend of the writer Jacques Yonnet and of the photographer Robert Doisneau with whom he shared editions of his works, among others Le vin des rues, with which he obtained the Rabelais Prize in 1955.
