Advanced Simulated Radar Client

ASRC or Advanced Simulated Radar Client is a PC-based computer application that simulates real-world air traffic control system radar screens and systems when connected to the network. Flight simulation and air traffic VATSIM, which is a massively multiplayer online network. Description

ASRC is designed to reproduce, in all possible detail, real air traffic control units in the VATSIM air traffic simulation network. The program is actually a monitoring and control client that makes interface of the VATSIM network, similar to multiplayer flight simulations, like Microsoft Flight Simulator, but with the difference that ASRC plays the job of a traffic controller air, rather than a pilot's aircraft. The application allows voice communication with pilots and other controllers through the VATSIM network (via Voice over IP), as well as displaying live network traffic data on a simulated radar screen.

The first version of ASRC appeared in early 2003 by moving ProController, a similar but older ATC simulator. Since the appearance of ASRC, ProController has been declared officially obsolete in the VATSIM network. The current version of ASRC is designed specifically for VATSIM and is not compatible with any other simulation network. ASRC is one of two simulated radar clients commonly used with VATSIM, the other Virtual Radar Client (VRC).

No versions of the program have been published or planned for Linux, Macintosh or other operating systems or platforms; however some users have achieved some success when running ASRC over other operating systems using Windows compatibility layers, such as Wine and Cedega.

ASRC is non-free software, but it's free.
