A membrane cell organ is a membrane cellulite. These are numerous eyelids that appear to be connected together, which form a standing triangle, but are arranged at the beginning as a rectangle of generally 3 or 5, occasionally 2 or 4 dense rows of kinetosomes. Kinetosomes are linked by fibrils. They are usually used as a functional unit for the agitation of food, rarely for the movement.

Presumably the organelles designated by this term are not homologous.

Wimperties from the group of the Spirotrichea have a so-called adoral membrane cell (AZM), which is composed of several membrane rows and leads to the buccal cavity. Eyelids from the group of Hymenostomatia, on the other hand, have the membrane on the left side of the buccal cavity, whereas on the right side an undulating membrane. Edit the source text
