Eusebio Sánchez Couple

Eusebio Sánchez Pareja (* 1716 in Córdoba, † after 24th October 1787 probably in Guadalajara) was a Spanish colonial administrator, who temporarily served as Viceroy of New Spain.

Sánchez served as governor of the province of Nueva Galicia from 1771 to 1776 and from April 22, 1777 to October 24, 1787 (German: New Galicia). After his successor interimistically took office, it seems plausible that he died in the office, and thus most likely in Guadalajara.

From Sánchez's time in Guadalajara, instructions are given to improve the hygiene in slaughterhouses and a bathing ban for the river. He also reported to the Viceroy on the status of the militia of his province.

After the death of Viceroy Bernardo de Gálvez y Madrid in October 1786, he also took over the office of the Viceroy of New Spain. For this term, Sánchez continues to be governor of Neugalizia. It is therefore to be assumed that the Real Audiencia of Mexico, which was responsible for the continuation of the government in the event of the death of a Viceroy, entrusted Sánchez with this task. In May 1787 he handed over the office of the Viceroy to the Archbishop Alonso Núñez de Haro y Peralta. Edit sourcetext Single-level Edit source text
