Walter Salzmann (rowers)


Walter Salzmann (* June 1, 1922) is a former German rower.

He came to the Mannheimer Ruderverein Amicitia at the age of 15 years. As a steward of the aft, he became a German Vizemeister in 1938. In the Second World War he was with the Navy. After the war, he rowed himself and reached a third place in the German Championships in 1951 with the four without Steuermann. His biggest success was the win with the Mannheimer Eight at the German Championships in 1953 in the local Mühlauhafen (Walter Salzmann, Dieter Kempf, Heinrich Blank, Klaus daughter man, Paul Deblitz, Siegfried Kuhlmey-Becker, Manfred Bartholomae, Rolf Alles, Hans Bichelmeier) .

The trained merchant Salzmann each played about 30 races as a steuermann and as a rower. In 1953 he received the Silver Laurel Leaf. His association appointed him to the honorary member in 1998 and honored him for 75 years of club membership with the golden honorary needle of the German rowing association.
