Marta and María Magdalena (Caravaggio)

Martha and Mary Magdalene is a painting by Caravaggio in 1598, preserved in Detroit. In this painting, Caravaggio follows the guidelines required by the Catholic Church for his paintings, by showing the characters without a mystic aura and only as normal people. The scene represented in this work is when Marta reproaches Mary Magdalene for his worldly and false behavior, while the latter has a sad air. In addition, the picture resembles that of a young woman attended by her lady. Bibliography used Online
