The French line is a line used primarily in France. In France it is called "grands carreaux" or "réglure Seyès", according to its inventor Jean-Alexandre Seyès. The paper trader Jean-Alexandre Seyès reported the pattern for the line on 16 August 1892 to the court of Pontoise. Because of the good overview of the student's learner's success in the standard, the Seyès line was introduced to all French schools at the end of the 19th century.

The Seyès line consists of 8 mm high checks, through which thick, horizontal lines lead. Between two thick lines are three thinner, which create four 2 mm high spaces. On the side, a red line limits the area for Teacher's Notes. Single-level Edit source text
