SpVgg Sterkrade-North


The SpVgg Sterkrade-Nord (officially: Sportvereinigung Sterkrade-Nord 1920/25 e. V.) is a sporting association from Oberhausen-Sterkrade. It was created in 1963 from the merger of the two predecessors of the game club 1920 Sterkrade-Nord and DJK Frisch-Auf Sterkrade-Nord. In 1962, the SV Sterkrade-Nord was the champion of the Landesliga Niederrhein, the first ever ascent to the Verbandsliga Niederrhein, the highest German amateur class. After the merger of the associations of origin in 1963, the descent followed two years later. In 1966 and 1968 the sports club returned to the federation as the champions of the regional league.
