Lombard rhythm

The Lombard or Scotch snap rhythm is a rhythm associated mainly with baroque music, usually consisting of a sharp sixteenth note followed by a punchy quaver. It goes just the opposite of the rhythm normally used in unreleased notes, in which the greater value precedes the lower one. In the Scottish countryside dance, the Scottish snap is present in the strathspey dance.

The Collins English Dictionary definition of "Scotch Snap" - "a rhythm pattern consisting of a short note followed by a long".
