Érico Gobbi (Rio Grande, August 9, 1925 - August 14, 2009) was a Brazilian sculptor of more than a hundred sculptures. Biography

Érico Gobbi was known in the city and also internationally, with monuments in other Brazilian cities (Caxias do Sul, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, São Paulo) and abroad (an image of the Virgin Mary in the USA .). Monuments in Rio Grande

In 1948, he helped Matteo Tonietti to sculpt several monuments in Xavier Ferreira Square: the monument to the mother and children in bermuda, cap and tie that adorn the lake of Xavier square. In it, the Pira da Pátria is also his. Its most known statue is Iemanjá, located on the beach of Cassino, 2.10 meters high and two tons. In the Plaza Tamandaré there are, of its authorship, the statue of Jesus Christ; the emblem on the pedestal of the monument of General Bento Gonçalves da Silva; the Creole Flame of the Traditionalists.

The sculptures of the Virgin of Lourdes and of Santa Bernadette, located in Porto do Rey, Ilha dos Marinheiros, are also in Rio Grande; the landmark in tribute to the centenary of the Sport Club Rio Grande, located in the Duque de Caxias street near General Bacelar street; the sculpture of Manuel Pereira Jr., located in the estate of the Portuguese Benefit; and the sculpture of Dr. Francisco Martins Bastos, located opposite the gym of the club Ipiranga Athletic Club. One of his grandest works is a monument of Rafael Pinto Bandeira, hero in the resumption of the municipality of Spanish domination in 1776. The statue of the combatant mounted on a horse is almost 3 meters high and weighs two tons. Built in 1975, it was not cast in bronze for lack of patronage and was in the sculptor's workshop until his death. Notes and
