Faculty of Humanities and Art of the University of Concepción


The Faculty of Humanity and Arts of the University of Concepcion, is one of the first faculties of the University of Concepción, a university institution located in the city of the same name, Chile. It is located in the university city, next to the Faculty of Juridical and Social Sciences and the House of Art, adjacent to Edmundo Larenas Street.

History

Formally its origin goes back to the school of pedagogy, in 1919. The school then changes its name to Faculty of Philosophy and Education and will become part of the School of Education. the School of Education (between 1958 and 1964) was made up of the departments of: Spanish, French, English, Philosophy, History and Geography, Psychology, Pedagogy and Normal Course. In 1965 the Central Institutes of Languages, Philosophy, History and Geography were created, the definitive composition until the end of the 70s. In 1971, the Institute of Art appeared that at the time was composed by the departments of: Musical Arts, Visual Arts , Theater, Choir and Orchestra. In 1975 the last race of the School is created: the Institute of Anthropology.

In the 80's, the current Faculty of Education, Humanities and Art started its activities, and in 1981, by decree 81-597, the following departments were organized: Art, Curriculum and Instruction, Physical Education, Spanish, Philosophy and Educational Sciences, History and Foreign Languages. Later the faculty is divided into three, humanities and art, education and Social Sciences. It remains in its present position, comprising the Departments of Plastic Arts, Historical and Social Sciences, Spanish, Philosophy, Foreign Languages ​​and Music.
