Church of Santa Coloma de Ger


The church of Santa Coloma de Ger is located in the municipality of Ger, belonging to the region of Baja Cerdagne. (Spain).

The parish church of Santa Coloma, was a possession of the monastery of San Miguel de Cuixá. At present, only the ornamentation of the doors of the Romanesque period remains. All of it has been reconstructed, preserving the western cover of the middle of the eighteenth century, made with marble from Isòvol and with sculpted depictions of a hunter with his dogs.

The Virgin of Ger is a 12th-century Romanesque sculpture belonging to this church which is housed in the National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona. Bibliography
