The white swan (Sibelius)


The white swan (in Swedish, Svanevit, literally translated as Cisneblanco), Op. 54, is an incidental music for a 13-piece orchestra by Jean Sibelius for the play of the same name by August Strindberg. It consists of a touch of horn and thirteen movements. Sibelius finished it in 1908 and directed its premiere in the Swedish Theater of Helsinki, 8 of April of 1908. Sibelius arranged from her a suite for a major orchestra (with four horns, a harp and castanets) in seven movements, like his Opus 54a.
