Parallel Universe

Parallel Universe is a single from the Californian band Red Hot Chili Peppers from their 1999 album Californication. Although never released on a Single CD, it reached number 37 on the US Modern Rock Tracks.

It's the second song on the album and one of the most powerful, in terms of distortion. The bass line is less similar to funk, achieving a much darker atmosphere. Anthony Kiedis's singing style is cooler during the verses, approximate melodic tones. The lyrics of the song talk about darker and more introspective songs than the general average of the band's songs.

In spite of being just a promotional single, "Parallel Universe" is one of the band's favorite songs in concerts and has been played at least 230 times since its publication becoming one of the most played songs live since its appearance in 1998. There is no official music video for this song.
