Nanfang Zhoumo (Pinyin Nánfāng Zhōumò) is a week-long week in the People's Republic of China. The newspaper, which has existed since 1984 and is a sister publication of the daily Southern Daily, is published by the Southern Newspaper Media Group. The main editorial office is located in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, with further editorial offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. The Southern Weekly is printed and distributed in several places at the same time in an edition of more than 1.6 million copies. It is considered to be the largest week in China and is therefore one of the most influential media in the country. The content line is relatively liberal and critical to the government, which has led many times to confrontations with the Chinese authorities and party apparatus.
