The Horror on Martin Beach (The Horror at Martin's Beach) is a short story by H. P. Lovecraft and Sonia H. Greene (1883-1972). It was written in June 1922 and initially published (as The Invisible Monster) in November 1923 in the magazine Weird Tales (Vol. 2, No. 4, 75-76, 83). Synopsis

A strange creature is killed by sailors. After being examined it is determined that it is a young species of an animal unknown by man. From that moment strange attacks begin to occur to the sailors, presumably by the furious mother of the creature assassinated.
