Second Developer

In the videogames sector, the term second-party developer is a developer who, without being a subsidiary of a company that owns a videogame console in the market, creates its videogames exclusively for one these platforms. The companies that own the game consoles of the market usually have some participation in these developers, although without getting to control them like properties. It may also be that this exclusivity is due to deals that have been signed between the company and the developer.

Anyway this term is not official, as they are first and third developer. This term is used to describe those companies that do not fall within the other definitions, because their status is a mixture of both: they are not owned by another company (same as a third party), but only develop video games for one or more specific consoles belonging to a particular company (as a principal).
