Óttir Dub

Orttir Dub (Irish Gaelic: Otter the Black, Old Norse: Óttár svarti, m. 1014) was a Viking leader of the eleventh century, a hibernian-nordic warrior who fought alongside Sigtrygg Silkiskegg, monarch of the kingdom of Dublin , against Brian Boru, great king of Ireland in the battle of Clontarf. Possibly it was descended from Ottir Iarla (m. 918) that bore the same nickname.

The annals of Ulster (c.1014) quote: ... of the foreigners, there Dubgall son of Amlaib, Sigurðr son of Hloðver jarl of the Orkneys, and Gilla Ciaráin son of Glun Iairn, heir designated by the foreigners, and Ottir Dub and Suartgair and Donnchad ua Eruilb and Griséne and Luimne and Amlaib son of Lagmann and Broðar who killed Brian, commander of the Lochlannaig fleet, and 6000 were killed and drowned.

In Cogad Gáedel re Gallaib Ottir Dub is mentioned as one of the four kings who acted as admirals of the Vikings of Dublin.
