Master of Budapest

Master of Budapest: Christ on the Cross, around 1500 (Spanish)

Master of Budapest (later Mestre de Budapest) is a highly gothic Spanish painter. The not-known artist was active around 1500 in the kingdom of Castile. His style is typical of the painters of the kingdom, influenced by contemporary Flemish painters, or sometimes even inspired by Flemish immigrants. The master already shows the influences of the transition to the Renaissance in Spain, a style also developed by his contemporary, the master of Astorga.

The notoriously unknown master of Budapest is named after the works he created, now in the Museum of Fine Arts (Magyar Szépmüvészeti Múzeum) in Budapest, Hungary. The champion is also run as a Budapest champion. Works (selection) Edit source text Edit source text Single-level Edit source text
