Arnhem-Nijmegen City Region

The Stadsregio Arnhem-Nijmegen (Arnhem-Nijmegen) is a plusregio (agglomeration) in the East of the Netherlands with 736,107 inhabitants on 1,000 km² (as of January 1, 2011). The municipalities around the cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen have joined together. The economic perspective of het KAN is to develop into an (inter-) national / European multimodal transport region. For this purpose, the regional structural plan defines the future spatial development for the 19 municipalities.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, the economic promoters and the administrative centers of the cities of Arnhem, Nijmegen, Kleve and Emmerich have been working together more closely in the A.N.K.E.- Städteetz.

According to NUTS, the 'Stadsregio' is marked with the designation "NL226 Arnhem / Nijmegen"
