Walter Stamm


Walter Stamm (born June 20, 1941) is a former Austrian footballer. As a defender, he played for the Austrian national team several times and won twice the ÖFB Cup and once the championship with the Admira Vienna club. Edit CareerQuelltext

For his first assignment in the championship for the Admira came Walter Stamm in the 1958/59 season, to the Stammelf of the club it counted starting from 1961. With it trunk the first great success in the ÖFB-Pokal 1964. The team reached the Final and defeated Wiener Austria in the Praterstadion through Stamms gate to the 1: 0. His club career reached its climax in 1966: Without a match, Admira again won the Cup in the final against Rapid with 1: 0. In the championship, Stamm also claimed Rapid; he was used in 25 of 26 games.

The good performances in the championship made Stamm a leap into the national team. He made his debut in Austria's 3-2 away win over England on 20 October 1965. The defender was used in the qualifying for Italy in 1968 and in World Cup qualification for Mexico 1970. His last season in the championship for the Admira, which was now home to the Maria Enzersdorfer Südstadt, was played by Walter Stamm in 1970.
