Juan Andrés de Paredes y Polanco

Juan Andrés de Paredes y Polanco (* Huamanga, 1613 - † Quito, 1686), magistrate and creole professor who held high political positions in the Viceroyalty of Peru. Rector of the University of San Marcos. Biography

His parents were the Creoles Diego Paredes and Solier and Francisca Polanco de Santillana. Established in Lima, he studied at the Royal College of San Martin (1662), and then obtained a Doctor of Laws and Canons degree from the University of San Marcos.

Incorporated into teaching, he served as chairman of the Decree, he had to praise the viceroy Conde de Castellar during the reception offered him by the sanmarquino cloister (1674), and then he became a professor of Prima de los Canones (1675) ). Elected rector of his University (1684), he elevated to the Viceroy a representation of the cloister exposing the reasons that prevented to fulfill the real cedula that ordered to provide the chairs by means of oppositions (1685).

Appointed Prosecutor of the Royal Audiencia of Quito (1686), he moved to that city but died soon after assuming his duties.
