Daughters of Isis

The Daughters of Isis (Daughters of Isis) are the female auxiliary body of the Ancient Egyptian Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Reliquary, the Shriners affiliated with Prince Hall African-American Freemasonry.

The local groups of the Daughters of Isis were founded in Maryland, Rhode Island and Washington DC during the early years of the 20th century and in 1909 the representatives of these local groups met with a committee of Prince Shriners Hall and formally requested the formation of a national women's organization among the relatives of the members of the Ancient Egyptian Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Reliquary. The permit was granted during the annual Shriners Convention, held in Detroit, Michigan, on August 24, 1910. At the time of the creation of the groups there were 12 cuts or local groups. >

Local organizations are called Cortes and the national organization is called the Imperial Court.

The rituals of the organization are based on Egyptian mythology and the legends of ancient Egyptian divinity Isis.

There were 12,000 members scattered in 184 courts in 1979. Today there are nearly 200 courts located in the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, Germany, Italy, South Korea and Japan.
