Andreas Meihsies


Andreas Meihsies (* 23 March 1960 in Lüneburg) is a German politician (Alliance 90 / Die Grünen). From 2003 to 2008 he was a member of the Lower Saxon Landtag. Edit LifeQualtext

After attending the Hauptschule, Meihsies trained at the German Federal Post Office. From 1975 until his election to the Landtag, he was employed in the postal service.

Meihsies has been a member of the Greens since 1983. Since 1986 he has been the administrator of the city of Lüneburg and chairman of the Green Party there. From 2003 to 2008 he belonged to the Lower Saxony Landtag. In 2008, he was ranked 14th in the Green List, but the Greens received only twelve seats. Meihsies then announced to return to the post office after a professional break-out; he wants to continue his communal policy commitment. In 2009, he ran for the Greens as a direct candidate for the Bundestag. After being rejected by the Greens for the City Council in February 2016, he laid down the faction presidency and a little later emerged from the party.
